Fall Conference Featured Clinician: Sheila Paige brings over 30 years of experience in the work of Dorothy Taubman and an extensive background in Alexander Technique. She is also a faculty member of the Dorothy Taubman Seminar. Ms. Paige’s reputation as a teacher attracts pianists nationally and she commutes to Pittsburg, Cleveland, Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Austin, Raleigh and Charlotte to teach on a regular basis. Her students number many university faculty members and performers who have appeared with orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony and the London Symphony. Presentations include Oberlin Conservatory, Ohio Music Teachers, Oklahoma Music Teachers, Music Teachers of California, Texas Music Teachers Association, Piano Celebration in CO, the University of Oklahoma, and University of North Texas. An active performer, Ms. Paige has appeared in recital and with orchestras both locally and nationally. Place: 3088 Edgehill Road, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118 (Katie Hug's house) Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Kathryn Hug holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree in piano performance and piano pedagogy. For more than twenty years Ms. Hug has taught piano in her home studio in Cleveland Heights. She was an adjunct instructor of piano, class piano, and keyboard harmony at Malone College (now Malone University) for twelve years. Many of her students have gone on to become professional musicians and teachers. Several have been senior soloists with the Cleveland Heights High School symphony orchestra. Ms. Hug is an active performer of solo piano music, chamber music and accompanies student and professional instrumentalists and vocalists. She has held offices at local and state levels of Music Teachers National Association, Mu Phi Epsilon International Fraternity, and National Federation of Music Clubs. Oksana Melnychenko, M.M., with more than 15 years’ teaching experience in Europe and in the United States, teaches Violin, Keyboard, and Ear Training at Cuyahoga Community College, Eastern Campus in Highland Hills, Ohio, and in her Private Music Studio in Richmond Heights, Ohio. Ms. Melnychenko has resided in the United States since 2001. A native of the Ukraine, she studied with a number of internationally-renowned master musicians: Violin with Irina Schevzova and Alexander Sprencis, Theory, Harmony and Orchestral Arrangements with composers Anatoliy Panamarev and Victor Lobos, conducting with Gennadi Seneok, Joseph Franz and Vadim Gnedash. She currently holds Master’s Degrees in Performance, Teaching Violin, and Orchestra Conducting. Also, Ms. Melnychenko has earned a Degree in Accounting with all Honors, and for the past 7 years she has worked at H&R Block Tax Company in Twinsburg, Ohio as a Tax Advisor IV with specialization in Individual Income Tax Law and Small Business Tax Law. In August 15, 2009 Ms. Melnychenko received “Five Years of Faithful Teaching Service Award” from Cuyahoga Community College. In April 17, 2010 Ms. Melnychenko received another award “Outstanding Adjunct Faculty 2010” from Cuyahoga Community College. In October 2011 Ms. Melnychenko has received a Faculty Spotlight at Tri-C College. “I enjoy watching my students grow professionally as musicians! “
Since 2006, Melnychenko has also played the violin with and conducted the Shaker Symphony Orchestra as an honored guest. Ms. Melnychenko teaches an international class of students from around the world. Currently, Ms. Melnychenko is working on organizing a Fall Music Festival for North East Ohio Music Teachers Association (NEOMTA) that opens in November 13, 2011 at Cleveland State University in Ohio. who spend time in the Atrium at the hospital while attending to their children's medical needs.

* Each teacher may have 50 minutes starting on-the-hour.
* Recitals are not allowed to run over 50 minutes! NO EXCEPTIONS !
* If needed teachers can request 2 hours of recital time.
* The 1st recital is at 10:00 a.m. then 11:00 a.m. etc.
* The last recital begins at 3:00 p.m. Recitals end at 4:00 p.m. to avoid rush hour
* Parking will be free with the "stamping of a ticket" at the time of each recital.
* All events take place in the Atrium of Rainbow Babies using the parking garage on Adelbert Street.
** Teachers and students are encouraged to consider one of two fund raising requests by NEOMTA
1st: Each student performer contributes $5.00 to the hospital at the time of their recital.
or
2nd: Each student performer raises contributions from family and friends and contributes
those funds at the recital.

2012 Events January 21 - Young Artist's Recital 3:00 p.m.
Cleveland State University
* The Young Artists' Recital is a formal recital setting
* Teachers are encouraged to select up to three students to perform in this unique recital.
* Performers are asked to dress for the stage.
* There will be a maximum of 25 performers.
* Entry deadline is December 15, 2011
Beginners, intermediate and advanced students should be considered. Performers will gather backstage and enter and depart in the traditional manner.
Registration deadline is December 15, 2011

Presenter: Andrea McAlister "Music, The Brain, and the iGeneration: Teaching the Acoustic in a Digital Age" Place: Westlake Porter Library
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Dr. Andrea McAlister is Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Dr. McAlister is in frequent demand as an adjudicator and presenter and has presented lectures at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, and the Piano Wellness Seminar. Recent publications have included articles in the Music Teachers National Association's "American Music Teacher” and MTNA e-Journal as well as "KeyboardCompanion.” As a performer, Dr. McAlister has appeared in festivals and recitals throughout the United States and Canada, including performances at the Aspen Music Festival, the Rome Festival, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and Opera Cleveland on Tour.

Presenter: Robert Bonham Biofeedback; Mind-Body-Spirit Tips for Teachers Place: Westlake Porter Library Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. with one hour break for lunch Robert Bonham spent most of his youth in India where he studied music at the international Woodstock School in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. Studying with Jon Nelson and Angelica Morales von Sauer, music degrees were earned from Phillips University and Kansas University. He has studied the Taubman approach with Sheila Paige since 1990. His Ph.D., in Comparative Arts, is from Ohio University.
He recently retired from teaching in the Fine Arts Division of Maryville College, a liberal arts college located in Maryville, Tennessee, where he received the Outstanding Teacher Award in 1993. In recent years he has helped lead trips to India, Nepal, Tibet and Bali for students and friends of Maryville College. He also presents workshops for piano teachers focusing on avoiding injury, pain, or restriction and optimizing fluent and efficient motion. Performances include solo recitals, chamber music, collaboration with singers, strings, and brass, and concertos.
